Heart To Heart is an application designed to help those post-pediatric organ transplant to build connections and access mentorship. I was inspired to design this application surrounding my own experiences as a pediatric kidney transplant recipient. From a young age, growing up inside and outside the hospital, experiences that are abnormal for the average adult to go through become the normal part of life for those within the transplant community. Tests, surgeries, and medications, are just a few of the many elements that become engrained in the everyday life of children and young adults post transplant. Because of the overall isolating and anxiety-inducing nature of going through such experiences by oneself, an application, like HeartToHeart will provide those within the transplant community to connect with one each other, reflect upon their experiences, and access mentors to help process the emotional aspect of transplantation.

My Approach
I wanted to create an application that had an overall lighthearted branding style, as it is designed for a predominantly younger audience. Because of this, I picked a unique sans-serif typeface that reflected the modern experience I intended to create and used fun, engaging colors.

Application Design
Heart To Heart is designed with connections in mind, with its main features being allowing users to connect with those who share similar experiences and allow them to connect with mentors that understand their experiences. With this aspect in mind, I wanted these features to be prominent on the homepage, allowing users to explore options of mentors, understanding their experiences through a mini biography, photos, and taglines. In addition to mentor options, there are also groups available for users to join. Users would be able to join multiple groups and are encouraged to interact with those with similar life experiences. I also wanted to focus on the mental health aspects of organ donation as there are many aspects that affect your way of thought and your perception on life. I wanted to allow users to document their feelings and reflect upon their transplant.
